HYGIENE TEAM

We are grateful that The Dental Center is able to offer the skills of a prosthodontist, as well as treatment involving orthodontics and sedation dentistry.  We can care for the entire family, from toddler to senior years.  Our doctors and hygiene team have developed a periodontal program that is very beneficial for patients with gum disease.  Our hygiene department works well together, each member providing a unique contribution for us all to learn and grow as a cohesive group. 

Amy M.

My name is Amy and I have worked at the Dental Center for 11 years. I am happy to have found an office that provides our patients with the highest quality state of the art dentistry. Our focus is creating healthy smiles built on education, experience & excellence.

I graduated from the St. Luke’s Histologic Technician program in 1993. I then graduated from Kirkwood Community College in 2002 as a Dental Hygienist. In my spare time I love being with my family.

Ami W.

My name is Ami.  I graduated from the Kirkwood Community College Dental Assisting program in 1992 then graduated from the Hawkeye Community College Dental Hygiene program in 1995.

It has been an honor to have worked for The Dental Center for over 16 years.  Over this time, our office has grown with so many positive changes.  Our staff is committed to quality patient care, something very important to me as a hygienist.

 

Averi

Hi.  My Name is Averi.  I am a Registered Dental Hygienist and licensed in local anesthetics.  I graduated from Kirkwood Community College in 2005. I have been in the dental field for 11 years; starting as an assistant.  I have been a team member of The Dental Center since 2008.  I have attended Prodentec soft tissue management seminars. I'm proud to work with such a knowledgeable staff to serve patients with various needs and helping people have a beautiful, healthy smile.

I currently live in North Liberty and enjoy spending time with my family, friends and dog Buster.
 

Marie

My name is Marie. I have been a Dental Hygienist for 12 years, all working at The Dental Center. I like being able to work with people every day with compassion to help them understand the importance of a healthy mouth and a smile that they don’t have to hide. 

I grew up in Minot, North Dakota and graduated from the dental hygiene program from North Dakota State College of Science in 1998.  I knew that I wanted to go into the medical field at a young age and followed in my older sister's footsteps to be a Dental Hygienist.  I moved to Iowa because of my spouse, miss my family in ND, but Cedar Rapids has become a great place to live and work.
 

Melissa

My name is Melissa and I have been in the dental field for over 17 years. I have practiced dental hygiene for 9 yrs and have been fortunate enough to have been employed at The Dental Center for 5 of those years. As a hygienist, my goal is to give you the best comfort and care possible while here at The Dental Center. This beautiful establishment is filled with many warm hearts and big smiles. We have top of the line equipment and a highly skilled staff. We look forward to meeting you and hope to see you soon.

I graduated from Kirkwood Community college with a double Associates of Science degree. My hygiene and clinical studies were both completed through Kirkwood and The University of Iowa in 2002. I love what I do - working with people, and spending time with family and friends.
 

Sandy

My name is Sandy.  Ever since I was little I knew that I wanted to work in the dental field.  I am proud to say that I work at The Dental Center.  We have a great staff and keep up on the latest technology.  I studied Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene at Kirkwood Community College and graduated in 2008.



 

Shari

I was born and raised in Monticello, Iowa. Since graduating from Des Moines Area Community College hygiene program in 1984, I have worked as a hygienist.  During the early years of my career in Florida and Iowa, I typically worked at sole proprietor offices where I was the only full-time hygienist.  I have also been able to lend my experience to other offices, working as a hygiene consultant.

I have been at The Dental Center for over 10 years because of the quality of care we provide our patients.  I appreciate the environment staff enjoys at The Dental Center. The doctors understand we have many aspects to our lives, and they work with us to find the right balance.  This is invaluable and because of it, employee turnover is very rare at The Dental Center. You will see familiar faces each time you visit. 

 I am married to Brett. He and I have two children, Mackenzie and Chancy.  We also have two dogs, and two businesses (there’s a theme here). We enjoy traveling, particularly to warm places during cold Iowa winters.  

Shelli

Hi, my name is Shelli.  I graduated from Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg, Illinois in 2003 and have been working at The Dental Center as a hygienist since 2003 when I moved to Cedar Rapids. I was born and raised in Iowa.  I enjoy being a dental hygienist because I get to help people obtain brighter, more beautiful smiles everyday. I also have the opportunity to get to know interesting people I normally wouldn't meet.

In my spare time I enjoy traveling and spending time with friends, family and my mastiff, Atlas.
